I can’t decipher the signature, but it’s from a friend.
New Year cards with the specific year printed in the picture seem to have been popular in the early 1900’s.

  1. That has to be one of my favourites to celebrate one of the annual events on the calender. I think it's shame that nowadays there are mainly (expensive) cards not simple post cards for these events.
